Directions to Dry Pits in Patchogue, Long Island
Hello Racers and Fan,
Is everyone ready for the fourth OPA race of the 2007 race season?. We expect another large boat turnout in Patchogue, Long Island, which is located in New York. The dry pits is located on 36 Smith street, Patchogue, NY 11772. The schedule of events has been updated and is now available under the "Race Sites Information"tab under "Patchogue New York" tab. All racers that did not provide the registrars with copies of their physicals will have to have them before they can race. No exceptions! Also, I received a complete list of which racers did the dunker tests and the swim tests. You must also have this completed as you will not race otherwise. There are no swim or dunkers availabe at this race site! Each and every boat will be expected to have their own GPS. We now have Frank taking over the GPS collections and readings for the rest of the 2007 OPA racing season. We welcome Frank and his efforts to help streamline our GPS readings so that we can have them ready for the scorer's to evaluate for breakouts. Smitty is the final word on who wins what and which place they come out in. There are many roads in New York that do not allow commercial vehicles and wide loads on their highways. The directions are now posted on the Patchogue, NY tab under Race Sites Information" and you should know that getting stuck on the wrong highway in NY is no picnic. So please make sure you follow the correct route. See you there! OPA
Hey racers,
The key thing to remember is NO PARKWAYS! I know it looks tempting, but there are low bridges and State Troopers with little or no sense of humor. For traffic reasons and load sizes, we find that Route 95 to the George Washington Bridge Go over it, stay on 95 which is called the Cross Bronx Expressway at that point, till you see the Throgs Neck Bridge which you will go over to route 295 south which is the Clear View Expressway, do not get on the Cross Island "Parkway", take 295 south to route 495 east which is the Long Island Expressway to exit 63 if your staying at the Radisson, they also have a map on there web site. There are other ways like the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway but I reccomend saving your bravery for the race course! lol. I personally try and hit this area at nite between 2:00 am and6:00 am. Have a safe trip and if you have any questions just post em. We are also trying to put the directions on the OPA/Jersey Boyz site, I just can't seem to get a mapquest or google that will show the commercial route, if anyone knows how to do that it would be greatly appreciated, Thank You, Louie

L.I. "Battle on the Bay" lodging

The Radisson Hotel has stepped up to the plate and givin us some great rates for the race. $119.00 per nite for racers and fans. Just tell them your with the OPA or the Battle on the Bay and they will give you this rate. It's easy to find and it's right off the L.I. Expressway exit 63, it has a restaurant and a bar and is 15 minutes from the race site. Seth Korin of our race team checked all the area hotels and did a great job securing these rooms at these prices, he's the man! Call and book to hold your room asap, so if we need to hold more we will have time to do so.
