****NOTICE TO MARINERS****
23/25 Oct 2020
As permitted by the United States Coast Guard, a special event will close the adjacent water surrounding the NC State Port/Morehead City including the Intercoastal Waterway (ICW) on Friday 23 October and Sunday 25 October, 2020 from 9:00am-5:00pm(1700). The area inside the red box will be a restricted area and only authorized vessels will be allowed passage during the OPA Crystal Coast World Championship powerboat races. The total time of closure is subject to be adjusted as required based on racing schedules and operations. Dedicated times of transit openings during the 9-5 overall closure are as follows...11:30am-1pm, 2pm-3pm, and after the races are complete each day. Vessels seeking to transit this area should contact their designated Coast Guard representatives on VHF-FM CH 16. Please be mindful of your boat wakes as you transit the area as many boats in the area will be on anchor along the enforcement zone. Please note that the USCG has final authority and all interests should monitor VHF CH 16 for broadcast updates.Spectator fleet participants if you are asked to move your anchorage, please do so as directed for this is with the safety of all parties involved on the water in mind. Once again, the USCG and supporting agencies have final authority. Please monitor VHF CH 16 for broadcast updates.
Friday October 23rd and Sunday October 25th, 9am until races have concluded each day...once again, drone flights will be prohibited on race days for the OPA Crystal Coast World Championship in the vicinity of the race course. FAA has closed the airspace above the race course and Morehead City as safety helicopters will have unrestricted flight paths in support of the races.
